I remember when Black Friday was a one-day mega frenzy, when even Canadians would drive across the border for deals. Now, it seems the sales last for weeks, rolling straight into Boxing Day. I think that’s a good thing for consumers. Maybe not a great signal for the economy, and definitely a bad sign for my wallet.
All that to say: there were some great deals on men’s clothes this year, many of which are still going, just rebranded as December sales. And with the holidays around the corner and the year winding down, it’s not a bad time to refresh your wardrobe or pick up a piece you’ve been eyeing. Especially since we have so many cold-weather months, you’ll get plenty of wear out of your picks.

Pantone announced its colour of the year 2026, and drumroll… it’s “Cloud Dancer”, aka white. It’s actually a cream/white if you look closely, but the internet is trolling. I love white in fashion for every season, before and after Labour Day. It’s my favourite monochrome colour combo. Mix and match different shades. T-shirts, dress shirts, and shoes should be white, but everything else should be a shade of cream, like the images above.
If you’re on social media, I’m sure you’ve seen the “quarter zip movement”, sparked by a TikTok posted a few weeks ago by two young men proclaiming they traded in their Nike Tech sweatsuits for quarter zips, and coffees for matchas. It’s racked up over 29 million views. Like most viral trends, there’s a political angle to this movement, which you can read about here. But from a fashion perspective, it represents an upgrade; young men levelling up in life and in style. It might explain why I’m seeing younger clients in my inbox lately. If you’re buying into the quarter-zip trend, I like this one from RW&Co. and this one from Banana Republic. Pair it with a plain white t-shirt instead of a dress shirt (a dress shirt collar with the sweater collar feels too busy together).
The holidays are around the corner, which means it’s dress-up season. You don’t need sequins or velvet to spice up a holiday outfit. Jewellery and accessories can go a long way. Put on a scarf for warmth and style. Here are a few I like from Simons: wear this with a peacoat; warm and in nice colours; I like this in green, oxford, and grey; cashmere; and cashmere ribbed. You can also find great, cheap and cheerful jewellery at Simons. I also often send clients to H&M for simple chains and rings, and I like Mejuri for real gold that’s not too flashy.
Toronto’s Own Fashion Week took over some of the city’s most noteworthy venues. I caught the Beyond Space runway show at Lower Bay station, the abandoned subway station below Bay and Bloor. I wanted to check this one out because the brand is big with Gen Z, and Toronto Raptors Brandon Ingram showed up to a game in one of their tracksuits. The collection felt grungy and deconstructed, made for the person who dresses to make a statement. Think: you’re 22 and your clothes represent your personality. Some pieces stood out, like these shoes and these pants that I can see a basketball player wearing as part of a tunnel outfit.

Wales Bonner is a luxury brand by Grace Wales Bonner that mixes “European heritage with an Afro Atlantic spirit”. It started as a menswear brand in 2014, later expanding into womenswear. I love this sold-out varsity jacket. At 35, Bonner has already won numerous awards for her designs, including being named British Menswear Designer of the Year at the 2025 Fashion Awards. You may have heard of her because she was appointed the new creative director of Hermès' menswear earlier this year.
Would You Wear This? 🤔

I’m a big Kith fan and talk about them here a lot. I walked into their Toronto store this weekend for the first time and was shocked by the number of people in there hunting for the new Pixar collab. All the items pictured above are sold out online! (Though I did see the pizza sweater in-store, with a few people hovering over it). I tell most of my clients to stay away from graphic tees and sweaters, but style is personal! So, I’m curious. Would you wear this?

Cozy sweaters are 40-50% off at Everlane. This is a nice slouchy merino wool turtleneck.
Bulova is having a December sale on watches. 25% off select styles, including this one I recommend often, and this one.
If you’re still looking for a holiday blazer, this colour is amazing (and on sale). Lots of other great items are over 30% off at RW&Co.

“How do I know if clothes actually fit me properly?”
Fit matters more than brand, trend, or colour. There are some guidelines to follow, but what’s important is intention - are you going for clean cut, baggy, or skinny fit? None of these is wrong, but you want to choose outfits on purpose.
That said, here are some guidelines: for a clean-cut outfit, you want your shirt to have a shoulder seam that lands right at the edge of your shoulder, not drooping or creeping inward. If you’re wearing your shirt untucked, the bottom hem should sit around the middle of your pant zipper. If you prefer to tuck, choose a shirt with extra length so it stays put when you move around. Sleeves should end right at the wrist bone, and the body of the shirt should skim, not cling to, your torso.
For pants, you’re looking for clean lines. The bottom hem should touch the top of your shoes unless you’re intentionally going for a cropped or baggy look. The thighs should have room to move, with no bulging or pulling. A good pair should fall straight down the leg, following the shape of your body. The waistband should sit comfortably without requiring a belt to keep it up.
A simple mirror test: stand naturally, take a breath, and see if anything looks strained, saggy, or bunched. You should look balanced and feel like you can walk, sit, and live your life without adjusting every five steps.
