One of my clients this week mentioned how simple men’s clothing seems. There are maybe a dozen styles and a handful of colours that work well together. And yet, it’s so easy to get it wrong.

If you’ve been a reader for a while, you’ll know that colours matter as much as proportions, tailoring, and trends. And getting it right is a fine balance. I’m here to help.

Today, I’m sharing an easy style hack using the ties gathering dust in your closet, the perfect summer loafer, and how to style different lengths of shorts.

Easy style hack: monochromatic shirt and tie. Not like how light blue matches with navy, or how blue stripes match with a blue blazer. I mean the exact same black on black, or pattern on pattern, or this. A shirt and tie can sometimes look overly corporate, but matching them makes the look feel more intentional and modern, and you likely already have both pieces in your closet.

The suede loafer is the white sneaker of summer. They go with almost any outfit - not too formal and not too casual, so they’re the perfect business casual shoes. You can’t go wrong with a light beige, brown, or navy. My client bought these Lacoste ones in white and navy. Match either with white pants.

Pedro Pascal was named Chanel’s house ambassador. Meaning: he’ll star in more Chanel campaigns, wear the brand on red carpets, and generally give the brand more cultural credibility. Chanel doesn’t have a men’s collection and never has, but that hasn’t stopped it from dressing celebrities like Pascal at the Oscars and Jacob Elordi on his press tour for Wuthering Heights.

I’ve started seeing shorts in stores, so now might be a good time to reshare my IG reel about how to style different shorts lengths: 5”, 7”, and 9” (it’s not just related to your height). Most guys will look good in 7” shorts as a standard fit, but a good rule of thumb is to have shorts sit about 2”-3” above your knee.

Indulge 🤑

This plum wine suit jacket from Banana Republic is beautiful in person. At $600 for just the jacket, it’s a high price tag for a blazer you might only wear a handful of times. But if you’re looking for a statement piece, I highly recommend. The linen-merino fabric makes it lightweight and great for the spring and summer weather. It’s a deep colour, so I’d skip the matching pants. Instead, I’d style this with navy dress pants and a light blue dress shirt. No tie, and wear the jacket open and unbuttoned.

On My Radar 👀

I’ve been waiting to take a closer look at the BOSS by Beckham Spring/Summer 2026 collection. They’ve been teasing it for a while, and it’s finally out. It’s a mix of BOSS’s signature tailoring with the relaxed-fit trend of this spring. Lots of flowy fabrics and, finally, the perfect shade of butter yellow. The collection is made to move through your workday into the night. Suits are less rigid, with lighter fabrics made for layering. This double-breasted jacket is the perfect relaxed-fit blazer.

What can I wear to work in the summer besides a polo?

I generally tell my clients to stay away from polos altogether. They’re all function and no style, and make everyone look like a golf dad. A good alternative to the standard polo is a Johnny collar polo. Other options for summer outfits are well-fitted t-shirts styled with pleated pants, short-sleeve button-downs, and linen.
