It's my favourite time of the year - the sun's out most of the day, NBA Playoffs, FIFA World Cup in my city, and today marks the 20th issue of Well Suited. I'm happy and grateful you're here. Reply to this email and let me know if there's anything you'd like to see more or less of. I read every one.
A scheduling note: I'm shifting these letters from twice to once a month this summer to give myself some room to get organized and build toward what's next. I'm still constantly spotting trends and have plenty of opinions to share, so I'm not going anywhere, just trialling a new schedule. In the meantime, follow me on Instagram.
Also: Father's Day is next week. Lots of links ahead you can send as gift inspo.

Easy style hack: you don't have to change a lot to elevate a look. Next time you buy a t-shirt, pick one with some texture - something knitted, like this. I also tend to prefer crewnecks over v-necks for a cleaner look, especially under a blazer.
Every four years, soccer (sorry, football) fans and non-fans gather to cheer on their national team in the FIFA World Cup. This year is special because the tournament stops in two Canadian cities - Toronto and Vancouver. So, while I’m not a soccer fan, I know that fashion is never far when culture and sports collide. Dozens of designer brands have released World Cup collections, including official collabs with national teams. Canada’s Men’s National Team partnered with Drake’s NOCTA; France’s collab with Issey Miyake is a standout, and Kith released a whole collection in partnership with Lionel Messi and Adidas. See more here.
Ultra-luxury brand Zegna took over the Malibu Pier last week to debut its Summer 2027 collection, La Villeggiatura. Inspired by the Italian ritual of packing up your life to vacation or fully relocate for a season, the collection delivers flowy fabrics, bold textures, and vibrant colours. Every outfit is perfection. With pieces averaging between $600 and $6,000 CAD, it's not for everyone. But at least watch the 18-minute runway show for the inspo.
Indulge 🤑

I’ve been asked enough about Loro Piana in the last few weeks that it warranted a browse. I typically help clients find cost-friendly quality options, but I also understand the appeal of seeing the very top end. Known for sourcing some of the world's highest-quality cashmere and recently made famous by Jeff Bezos’ loafers, the luxury Italian brand has just two physical stores in Toronto (Yorkville and Yorkdale) and two in Vancouver. I’d describe the aesthetic as upscale business casual. If you’re going to invest that kind of money, choose timeless styles and colours you can wear forever: like this cashmere traveller jacket ($8,700), this baby cashmere crewneck ($2,730), and this baby cashmere polo ($2,680).
In No Particular Order 🗒️

6 business-casual pieces every man should have for summer:
Sweater polo - like a regular polo, without giving "I'm about to head to the golf course."
Light-coloured suede loafers - and a navy pair if you want to switch things up
Spring jacket or bomber - because Canadian summer nights get chilly
Pleated trousers - which you should wear year-round
White pants (pleated or chinos) - trust me
Long-sleeve linen button-down - no ironing required

These Calvin Klein jeans are the perfect straight-leg cut - not too baggy for those scared to stray from their slim fits. Use code DAD5 for $5 off, or spend one more dollar for 20% off.
Cuts is taking up to 40% off sitewide on summer clothes. Surprisingly hard to find 7" inseam shorts - these are a good buy.
Ask Me Anything 🙋🏻♀️
"How do I dress well in the summer as a slimmer guy?”
More specifically, my client wanted to avoid looking skinny, so he bought larges, hoping to bulk up his frame. That actually had the opposite effect. If you're a slim guy who doesn't want to look slim, especially in the summer when your arms and legs are showing, here are some tips:
Tuck in your shirt - then pull out about an inch so it flows loosely over your waistband. This adds width without losing your shape.
Choose outerwear that's round rather than straight - bomber jackets are a great option for slim guys. Shackets and chore jackets run longer and straighter, which makes you look longer and leaner.
Go for solid-colour dress shirts or larger prints - generally, remember that smaller prints make you look smaller, larger prints make you look larger.
Look for shirts with a waistband - it acts like a built-in shaper. Perfect if you hate tucking in your shirt.
Roll up your sleeves - you're trying to avoid long vertical lines, so rolling up a linen button-up instantly adds dimension to your look.
