I’ve been (mostly) locked inside watching the Olympics. In the stretches I’m outside walking my dog, I’ve noticed the weather has warmed up, and people are wearing shorts. Give a Canadian a few degrees above zero, you know?

Clothing stores are clearly ready for warmer weather, too, which has made winter pieces surprisingly hard to find. I went shopping for a client the other day, and I couldn’t find any turtlenecks or chunky sweaters. We all know winter lasts about 11 months here, right? FYI: I did manage to track down some turtlenecks here, in case you’re looking.

Bad Bunny's entire Super Bowl halftime show outfit was designed by Zara. No, it’s not a ready-to-wear outfit you’d put on for a friend’s birthday party, but it is proof that you don't have to spend big to look good. If I’m shopping at Zara Man, it’s not for quality fabrics or tailoring. It’s for layering opportunities. With its oversized cuts, Zara offers pieces that work layered with higher-quality items you may already own. I’m obsessed with this whole outfit. The trick to layering is making sure each piece still looks good on its own. Here, the white tee works solo, under the blazer, or topped with the jean jacket.

Leather jackets, like jeans, never go out of style. And right now is the perfect time to wear one, thanks to this transitional weather. I really believe any man can pull off a leather jacket, but pay attention to style and fit so it looks intentional when you put one on. The most versatile style is the bomber-style leather jacket - preferably in dark brown - it can dress up a business casual outfit. I love the combination of this biker-style leather jacket with a dress shirt, tie, and baseball cap. The trucker-style leather jacket has been trendy this winter. Here’s a good one.

Shai Gilgeous-Alexander was named a brand ambassador for Levi’s as part of their β€œBehind Every Original” campaign, which makes total sense. SGA is known as one of the most stylish players in the NBA, often putting together tunnel outfits that get people talking. Plus, he already loves a good Canadian tuxedo. As part of the campaign, Levi’s asked him for three style tips. Here’s what he said: 1. Your shoes and pants should always be cohesive. 2. Accessories shouldn’t overshadow your outfit. 3. There are no real rules. If your eye likes it, it works.

We’ve talked about work outfits before, but with the recent, seemingly universal, push for employees to return to the office, a lot of people are scrambling to see which pre-pandemic pieces still fit or are still in style. I recently put together 10 outfit ideas for men returning to work. Save this for later.

Indulge πŸ€‘

The Salomon sneaker trend has made its way to Toronto. It was the β€œit” shoe last spring in fashion hubs like New York, thanks to its fashion-meets-function style. The brand is known for skiing and hiking gear, but it released a sportstyle line for when you’re not hiking mountains. The popular XT-6 is famous for its quicklace system - apparently very comfy for walking. They’re not my personal vibe, but I can see them working with relaxed jeans, sweater, and trench coat. Definitely worth a try if your style leans toward athleisure.

On My Radar πŸ‘€

Kith released its spring collection, which includes a partnership with Salomon and exceptional outerwear. The Braden Tapestry hoodie is by far my favourite piece. Because it’s a strong statement piece with lots of colours and a complex design, I’d match it with a simple knitted black sweater with black jeans. I also love this take on the barn jacket, though not with the matching pants. I’d style the jacket on its own, treating it like a denim jacket. Dress it down with chinos or up with pleated pants. The Giorgio Armani x Kith jacket is very similar to the look I pointed out last week that Skepta wore to the Grammys. No surprise it’s already sold out.

Little Burgundy has a bunch of brand-name shoes and styles up to 50% off. Including Salomon’s in select colours.

Take advantage of the seasonal sales at many stores right now. Like at Uniqlo, where you can find great basics, winter coats, and this bomber.Β

The Banana Republic checkered wool jacket that I featured in the Indulge section a few weeks ago is on sale! Lots of sizes still available.

β€œShould I be cutting the stitching on the back of my coat?”

Yes. This applies to both outerwear coats and sport coats. It’s the stitching that a lot of people forget (or don’t realize) they’re supposed to cut once they bring the coat home. Its purpose is to hold the coat’s shape while it’s hanging in the store or during shipping. But once you wear it, cutting it allows the coat to sit and move properly, giving it a better fit and flow on your body.
