Was October 42 weeks long? Because it feels like a while since I’ve shared an update. So long, in fact, that some of my favourite brands have launched fall and winter collections. I have too much to talk about since coming home from Japan and South Korea, so here goes… In today’s letter, I’ll share the fashion I observed in Asia, some fall (and winter) collections to watch, and four sweaters that my clients keep buying.

I’m not sure what I was expecting when I landed in Japan, but the fashion is a lot more muted than the futuristic reputation the country has. Most people look like they exclusively shop at Uniqlo, which I guess makes sense because that’s where the brand originated. I did walk by this very cool urban men’s store called Nubian and discovered a Japanese streetwear brand called Breath, and almost came home with this cardigan.
Kith did the most this month. They opened a new flagship store in Vancouver, released their winter collection, and launched collabs with Armani, Tumi, and others. The Vancouver store opened alongside an exclusive collection featuring this Grizzlies jacket and several commemorative pieces.
An old trend on its way back: the shiny satin dress shirt. I saw it all over the red carpet at TIFF, then on the runways during September fashion weeks. A satin dress shirt breaks up a matte suit, especially if it’s monochrome, like this. Here’s a good one from Banana Republic. If you prefer designer, wear this Versace silk shirt tucked into black trousers.
OVO and the NHL teamed up on a collection that highlights the original six NHL franchises. Each piece features vintage 90s and 2000s-inspired aesthetics. I don’t watch hockey, but I’d wear this jacket.
Steal The Look 🥷🏼

Four sweaters my clients keep buying.
Feels great on your skin: Cashmere sweater. It doesn’t have to be pricey. The infamous cashmere sweater from Banana Republic is often on sale in select colours. If you want a top-quality option, Zegna cashmere is softer, thicker, and holds its shape. Wherever you buy your cashmere, don’t wash it in the washing machine, and fold it to store (don’t hang).
Good for the collared shirt look: When you’re looking for a layering piece, choose a sweater that’s a thicker textured fabric, like this waffle knit from Simons that comes in multiple colours.
On trend: Stripes like this striped crewneck by Emporio Armani or vintage like this V-neck by ALD.
A modern cardigan: I really like this one by NN.07. You could wear it fully buttoned, tucked into pants. Or, button a couple of buttons near the bottom and wear over a dress shirt or T-shirt. Lots of similar options at Simons and Zara.
On My Radar 👀

Let’s talk about NN.07. I’d describe the brand as dressy athleisure - not quite streetwear, not quite business casual. It’s the cool guy at work who’s always dressed well, but never trying too hard.
NN.07 stands for No Nationality and was founded in 2007 in Denmark. I gravitate toward the brand every time I’m shopping at Harry Rosen. I’ve picked up this blazer many times for clients, and I’m loving their knitwear.
